Teil 1/3:

Ich bin aus Syrien, Damaskus. Geboren aber in Bagdad im Irak. Mein Vater war aus Irak, meine Mutter aus Syrien. Mein Vater ist ein großer Händler gewesen  und da sind wir dann nach Syrien gegangen. Der Handel zwischen Syrien und Irak war einfach. Sie sind leider beide schon lange gestorben. Und ich bin jetzt ungefähr seit 15 Jahren schon hier in Deutschland. In Leipzig hab ich 8 Jahre in verschiedenen Dönern gearbeitet, davor hatte ich auch einen Laden in Schmölln, die kennen mich immer noch, Dönerking heißt der dort. Den hab ich verkauft und der läuft immer noch.

Und dann wollte ich nach Leipzig, ich hab fast überall hier mal gearbeitet und dann die Atmosphäre so begriffen und weiß jetzt, was ich mache. Hat ja ganz gut geklappt. Der Laden ist jetzt auch bald ein Jahr alt. Und wenn alles klappt, wollen wir den vergrößern. Wir haben dann diskutiert, wie kann man den Raum einteilen, weil ich brauch ja die Küche. Und auf einmal, auf Toilette kommt die Idee, wirklich! Ich sitze und mach mich bequem und da kommt die Idee! Wenn alles klappt kommt ein Durchbruch hier rein, dass hier noch ein Gästeraum reinkommt, schön orientalisch mit warmen Licht. Und dann noch Tee in eine Ecke aber Selbstbedienung.

Dann kommt hier noch ein Pizzaofen rein und das Dönerbrot wird vor dem Kunden selbst gemacht. Und das schönste, der Kunde kommt hier rein und bestellt und wer drinnen sitzt, den stört das nicht, er merkt nicht wer reingeht, wer rauskommt.

Später soll auch noch ein ganz kleines, gemütliches Eiscafé hier rein, ganz gemütlich, 2 Tische, eine Kaffeemaschine, nur für die Kinobesucher zum sitzen.

Part 1/3:

I am from Syria, Damascus. But I was born in Baghdad in Iraq. My father was from Iraq, my mother from Syria. My father has been a great trader and that is why we moved to Syria. Trading between Syria and Iraq used to be easy. Unfortunately my parents both died long ago. I am already living here in Germany for around 15 years. In Leipzig, I have been working in different kebab shops for 8 years. I even already had my own kebab shop in Schmölln – they still know me there, the name was “Dönerking”. I sold this shop and business is still running.

I wanted to go to Leipzig, I have been working almost everywhere around here and I got a feeling for the atmosphere here. Now I know what I am doing. It seems to be working out just fine.The shop is now almost one year old. If everything works out, we will enlarge it. We have been discussing on how to arrange the room since I need the kitchen. And then, suddenly, on the toilet, I got the idea, really! I was sitting there, getting comfortable and then I got the idea! If everything works out we will break through the wall to add another guest room, really oriental with warm lights. And there will also be tea in one corner, but self-service.

Furthermore we will get a pizza oven and are going to bake the kebab bread directly in front of the guests. And what is best: the guests come in here and order and the other guests who are sitting inside are not bothered by them, they don’t notice who comes in, who leaves…

For the future, we are also planning on a very small, cozy ice cafe. Very cozy, 2 tables, one coffee machine, only a place to sit for the cinema guests.
