Vielleicht hab ich zu ineffektiv gearbeitet … die letzten Jahre hab ich mir zu wenig gegönnt. Es hat mir nicht geschadet aber das Maß zwischen Arbeit und Freizeit war nicht mehr ganz so optimal. Die Jahre vergehen und Dinge, die man machen wollte, waren am Ende des Jahres wieder nicht gemacht. Ich bin früher 1000km im Jahr gepaddelt und plötzlich gab es 4 oder 5 Jahre wo ich nicht einmal im Paddelboot gesessen hab. Und das sind Versäumnisse, die holst du dann auch nicht mehr auf. Dazu gibts dann noch körperliche Probleme. Ich hab zum Beispiel noch Marathon mit 50 angefangen und irgendwann musst du dich dann aber von einigen Dingen verabschieden.

Ich mache jetzt nichts mehr. Ich mache viel und ich mache nichts mehr. Ich bin Rentner. Ich mache Eisbaden, ich mache Pilates, ich mache Workouts und ich nehme Gitarrenunterricht und Englischunterricht. Gitarre hab ich mit 60 angefangen, jetzt bin ich 64 geworden aber ich bleibe dran. Und Englisch hab ich mit 63 angefangen. Ich hab halt vor über 50 Jahren schon Beatles gehört und will jetzt mal langsam rausfinden was die da eigentlich singen. Wobei man mir sagt, es ist vielleicht besser, das sein zu lassen.

Perhaps I haven’t worked efficient enough… but during the last years I didn’t allow myself enough. It hasn’t harmed me, but my work-life balance was not ideal anymore. The years passed by and in the end of each year, the things I planned to do were still left undone. I used to paddle about 1000km per year and then suddenly, there have been 4 or 5 years without me sitting in a paddle boat once. And you can’t make up for this. And in addition, some physical problems are showing up. For instance, I started to run marathons at the age of 50 but at some point you have to give up on some things.

Now, I do nothing anymore. I do a lot – and I do nothing anymore. I am a retiree. I am taking ice baths, I am doing pilates, I am doing workouts and I am taking guitar lessons and English lessons. I started to play the guitar at the age of 60, now I turned 64 but I’ll stay tuned to it. And I started to study English at the age of 63.You know, I already listened to the Beatles over 50 years ago and I think now it is time for me to slowly find out what they are actually singing. Although others are telling me, it would be better if I let it be.
